CASTELLS Documentary by Gereon Wetzel, 88 Min., Germany 2006
Across Catalonia, small communities compete to build the highest, most intricately designed human tower. In the town of Valls, local team Colla Joves despair of their enxaneta, or “last one”, a five year old child whose job it is to form the tower’s pinnacle. The girl in question quite understandably has reservations about climbing a wobby ten metre human ladder. But emotions amongst the town’s folk are running high, and this one small child threatens to bring community stability crashing down, metaphorically and literally.
